Facial Surgery Nose job

Your facial appearance is your business card and creates the first impression. The size and shape of your nose play an important role in your face attractiveness. In talented hands, modern plastic surgery makes it possible, to create a more balanced and harmonious facial appearance by changing the shape, size or contour of the nose.

Why consider a rhinoplasty?

Getting a rhinoplasty procedure can be a difficult decision for some people, but there really is not much for that. If a person is not really happy with the way his nose looks, has had an accident or has medical problems with their nose, this surgery is the best way he can improve his life and feel more secure. Even a small correction can make a difference in overall facial harmony.

How does it work?

The technique involves first accessing the bone and cartilage that support of the nose. This is achieved by incisions made inside the nose, where they are invisible. In some cases, an incision is made in the area of the skin that separates the nostrils. Next, the underlying bone and cartilage are reduced, enlarged or rearranged to create a new structure. For example, if the tip of the nose is too large, the cartilage in this area can be sculpted to reduce the size. If the bridge of the nose has a prominence, this can be reduced to produce a more pleasing profile. If any part of the nose seems disproportionately small, cartilage or soft tissue grafts can be placed to create a better harmony. The angles of the nose in relation to the upper lip or forehead can also be altered by further sculpting the nasal support structure.

How much is the recovery time?

Your surgeon will ask you to use a nasal splint during the first 7-10 days after rhinoplasty. You may have moderate swelling and bruising around the eyes that could last up to two weeks. You should also avoid physical activity until four weeks after surgery.

Can surgery be combined to correct breathing problems with rhinoplasty?

A nose job can be performed at the same time as surgery, such as septoplasty, which is done to straighten a deviated septum that hinders breathing through the nose. The combination is often called functional rhinoplasty.
